All crew should complete the
Aircrew Declaration form to speed up customs
processing.
1. Operational crew (entering Australia as a crew member and departing as
crew or a passenger) must hold:
-
a valid passport; and
-
an Airline Identity
Card; and
-
be listed on the
Custom Form 3
Crew Report (previously known as the General Declaration) signed on
behalf of the air carrier.
Operational crew are
able to remain in Australia for 30 days and do not need a visa if listed on the
Crew Report.
2. Positioning crew (entering as a passenger and departing as a member of
the crew) must hold:
-
a valid passport; and
-
a letter from the
employer certifying that the person is an aircrew member, setting out the
purpose of travel and the arrangements
for the person to leave Australia.
Positioning crew are
able to remain in Australia for 5 days and do not need a visa if holding a
letter from his/her employer certifying their
status and purpose of travel.
3. For Medivac flights, medical staff can be included on the
Custom Form 3,
provided they comply with the above requirements.
4. The view of CASA is
that the flight crew need to meet the legislative requirements of the country in
which the aircraft is registered.
Therefore the flight crew would need to hold
any licences and ratings mandated by the FAA or other legislative body for the
type of
operation being conducted.
